Not For Ourselves
A Book Review
By Cate Cavanagh

Theresa Chaze has once again proven herself to be a premier Wiccan author of amazing skill and creativity! Not For Ourselves is a robust novel that spans lifetimes in the most unique way possible by weaving a tale of revolving reincarnation.

Readers knowledgeable of the Craft will find this approach familiar yet refreshing in depiction as we witness the flashing back and forth of a character in the present reliving moments of a previous life whose errors have followed her through many incarnations including the present.

Through Alyssa’s eyes we see how conflicted relationships are fast forwarded to the present as she comes to recognize antagonists of her past life tormenting her in the present. Alyssa’s biggest challenge is to rejoin her past self and seek to correct the error that sent her span of lives into the condemnation of karmic debt.

A victim of stalking and terrorism by a local police officer Alyssa is forced to send her cats to live with her sister, Michelle. Reporting this officer (Nevel) is useless as the blue wall converges about him, rendering him protected against prosecution. As her torment continues week after week and month after month the result is the loss of her job as well what has become her fragile sanity. Despite this she fosters enough strength to vlog a diary of what is happening as well as publishing his threatening phone calls. When he and a fellow officer come to her house with false charges and threats, Alyssa finds her cause has been followed by the FBI for some time. Angry that they allowed her to live in constant fear she searches for a way to find peace again and to come away with her goddess given power once more!

Complicating matters is James, the FBI agent that rescues her and Wayne the attorney helping his father deliver hay to the reclaimed horse farm that Alyssa resumes on her path to recovery. But is Wayne in town to defend her tormentors?

So thorough is Theresa’s research she writes of how Alyssa houses an injured possum rather than have him free to roam the stable because its feces can cause serious, life threatening illness. As a horsewoman, I was very impressed with this authenticity.

Authentic as well as her description of projecting oneself into a past life and back again. Authentic as well is how she depicts the physical, mental, and emotional turmoil that rapid astral traveling can be. Those of us of the Craft have experienced this and it is very impressive that Theresa set before her the daunting challenge to recreate not just the physical sensations of trying to undo past errors but the very important tenets of the Wiccan path.

Upon completion of Not For Ourselves, those of the Craft will be sated knowing that someone like Theresa writes a true representation of this treasured belief system while opening a whole new realm of reading experience for the average reader.

Kudos to you Theresa Chaze! Well done!

Available on Amazon as a Kindle and in paperback as well as a PDF on the author's website.

Coincidence is God's Way of Remaining Anonymous

When the student is ready the teacher will appear. In this case, the teacher came in form of Gloria Loring's latest book, Coincidence is God's Way of Remaining Anonymous. Loring honestly shared her own healing quest through and around the bumps in her road. But unlike most books in the genre, she uses joy and humor, but she also doesn't pull any punches about her learning and growing process.

"If you knew for certain that very, very soon, all your dreams would be coming true, what would you do today to prepare the way?"

I found this particular quote inspirational in helping me to work through spiritual blockages that kept me from not only finding happiness, but also blocked me from achieving success. This simple statement put all of my worry and dreams into perspective. It gave me the inspiration I needed finally gentle close the door on the past, while being able to see the future with hope and love. By the time I turned the last page and closed the cover, I had found the courage to release my fears and embrace the hope for my future.

However, that is only one of many quotes that Gloria Loring uses as she shared her emotional and spiritual healing journey. By listening to the Divine and courageously following her instincts, she was able to navigate her life challenges to find success both in her personal and professional lives. From the beginning of her career through the disappointments to the beginning of her new journey, Gloria found success when she was open enough to listen during meditation and brave enough to follow her intuition.

No matter where you are in your healing process or how you would describe your spiritual path, you will find wisdom and inspiration in Coincidence is God's Way or Remaining Anonymous.

Out of the Shadows and Into the Light: A Review

April 15, 2007 (Press Release) -- Out of the Shadows
And Into the Light:
A book of shadows for the modern world
by Theresa Chaze
Valkyrie Publishing, 2007
105 pages, illustrated
Review by Jeffrey Redmond (April 2007)

This is my very first introduction to the actual works of Theresa Chaze. A Wiccan priestess and author of the Dragon Clan trilogy, she has greatly impressed me with her teaching and wisdom. I have been able to read and experience her Out of the Shadows via the PDF file as an e-publication, fully reflective of the modern 21st Century.

Theresa's book is also timeless, in that it draws about the knowledge of our ancient ancestors, as Wicca is indeed a many centuries old religion and way of life. Fully explained are such relevant and useful topics as Wicca itself, rituals, circles, candles, altars, magic, prayers, spells, and the roles of pagan practices. And, especially, the practical applications of these in our modern living today.

Wicca remains a completely relevant concept of life, and an additional positive dimension in our daily activities. This work is thus a highly useful tool to use as guidelines and a manual for learning, understanding, and applying the study and practices of this important way. Out of the Shadows can be a highly effective guide for both those who are new to Wicca, as well as those much more familiar and experienced with it.

It can be completely safe to say that Theresa Chaze begins where J.K. Rowling leaves off. This is a much more detailed work of the magic and applications, as are done by the characters in the Harry Potter series. And Wicca always emphasizes the positive forces of nature and the universe, in order to promote and maintain a more happy and prosperous life for everyone and everything. Those interested in fantasy, mythology, New Age, and alternative living included.

Out of the Shadows is a terrific non-fiction book, and I can definitely recommend it. The lovely and detailed color illustrations, created and taken from different sources, truly enhance this wonderful work throughout. Pagani of all crafts and paths will find this an excellent addition to their libraries. And this applies to each and every priest and priestess, lord and lady, and all practitioners as well. Theresa Chaze has definitely done it again. Read, learn, and enjoy!

I appreciate the opportunity to read, review, and keep this book of shadows for my own modern world. Thanks Theresa!

Very entertaining...
Rachel felt as though the cottage was calling to her. It was lonely. The church people wanted to burn it down, because a witch once lived in it. They now target Rachel for her beliefs and practices. When she attempts to open a new book story she becomes the mark of bigotry.

This is not the type of book I normally read. Once I began, I could not put it down. There is a strength and yet innocence in Rachel. From the beginning, I sensed she had a secret. I wanted to see romance between Kevin and Rachel. Kevin is a wounded character. While this book is a fantasy and very entertaining, it also has an agenda, to teach the dangers of bigotry, close mindedness, and lack of love for people that are different. Awakening The Dragon would make an excellent movie. Fans of fantasy will enjoy Awakening The Dragon.

Follow Your Heart, Awaken the Dragon--Book Review by Danelle Drake

Rachel lives her life by what leads her. She landed in Coyote Springs by asking the Goddess where she wanted her to go, then threw the dart. It is there in Coyote Springs where she will open her "New Spirituality" store, Dragon's Den. Being drawn to a small cottage on the outskirts of town she crosses paths with Kevin Mitchellson. Kevin is the owner of the home in which his grandmother was killed.

Being like many small towns, Coyote Springs is a place where everyone knows of, or about, everyone there. In this town there is great turmoil between the House of Christ church and those who choose to follow otherwise. "Book One of the Dragon Clan Trilogy" focuses on this turmoil and resolution prior to the opening of Dragon's Den....I eagerly await "Book Two" to continue the story.

"Awakening the Dragon" is quite intriguing and will have you also waiting to see what happens next. With few editing errors that do not distract, this story is raw energy. "Theresa Chaze and her writing are based on her philosophy that all people live together in peace as long as we come from respect, not only for ourselves but those who follow different paths or beliefs." This is such a profound philosophy that would greatly benefit many. I often ask myself, "How does one know if what they personally believe is correct?" Life would be much less negative if everyone just accepted what the other believe to be correct for them and our own belief is correct for us, there is no wrong. In "Awakening the Dragon: Book One" you find yourself compelled to root for the characters and look at your own actions toward others.

Reviews and Praise for Magical Fantasy Series

Reviews and Praise for
Awakening The Dragon,
Dragon Domain
By Theresa Chaze

“I found myself smiling when I finished the last page of Awakening The Dragon--Book One of the Dragon Clan Trilogy by Theresa Chaze. I've read a pretty good number of books in my life, but none have given me quite the mix of emotions that this book has.”
Joe Murphy, The Dragon Page

“Ms. Chaze shows colorful, visual language that will even keep the romance novel buff obsessed in finishing this novel in one read! The pacing is excellent the main character strong and likeable, and the hint of romance to come in the final installments of the trilogy. I must say I'm already addicted to Ms. Chaze's writing style! A guaranteed page turner! Bring on the rest of the trilogy!”
Catherine J. St. Amour, author

“Theresa Chaze captures the imagination as well as the hearts of her readers. Dragon Domain is an open door to a world of wonder, and from the first page to the last, you will be hard pressed to put it down.”
Linda Rucker, author

“I am hoping that the author will be completing the concluding volume relatively soon. I hate having to wait to find out what happens to characters I have become attached to. On the other hand, the longer it takes, the more time I have before I have to say goodbye to them.”

Awakening the Dragon-Book One of the Dragon Clan Trilogy: A Review

Magical Fantasy Awakening the Dragon-Book One of the Dragon Clan Trilogy: A Review

Awakening the Dragon--Book One of the Dragon Clan Trilogy  by Theresa Chaze © 2006 Valkyrie Publishing ISBN 978-0-9798406-0-9

First thing I want to do in this review is to dispose of the problems I found with this work, and then I will go on to why I thoroughly enjoyed reading it in spite of those minor glitches.

This is a production of a small publishing house and suffers from what I have found to be endemic problems associated with books from similar sources. It is a reissue of a book I reviewed in 2003 (Dragon’s New Home) and still has some of the editing glitches (dropped words, and an occasional formatting problem).

Okay, so much for the negative part of the review. Now on to the good stuff.

As I said in my original review of Dragon’s New Home, this is a well-told story with characters that are both believable and familiar. By familiar, I don’t mean you’ve seen them in books before, but that you know people like them in your own life. There are no “over the top” characters here.

Even though some of the fantasy elements have a touch of Hollywood about them, the story relies on character development to hook and hold the reader. And let’s be honest – if you don’t care what happens to the characters, a book is a failure. This book is most definitely NOT a failure.

This book was a pleasure to read (even with the glitches noted above). The story is compelling and fun and the characters are individuals. I’m sure you will enjoy it.

My one complaint about book series, especially good ones for the adult reader, is that there is usually a long gap between the appearance of each volume, and I freely admit I am an impatient individual. The good thing about this book is that it is available as both a paperback (for those people like me who like a physical book in hand) and as an e-book (from) Dragon Domain. Of course, we will still have to wait for the concluding volume of this trilogy to come out to know how it all ends.

Magical Fantasy Dragon Domain-Book Two of the Dragon Clan Trilogy: A Review

Dragon Domain--Book Two of the Dragon Clan Trilogy: A review.
By
Mike Gleason

Dragon Domain--Book Two of the Dragon Clan Trilogy by Theresa Chaze © 2006 Valkyrie Publishing ISBN 978-0-9798406-1-6 281 pages Paperback $15.95 (U.S.)

This second book in the Dragon Clan trilogy is a darker work than the first. Whereas the antagonists in the first book (Awakening the Dragon) were, for the most part, merely misguided albeit sincere believers in their faith's rightness, the antagonists this time around have made a conscious decision to embrace their darker sides for the simple's pleasure of power.

Theresa writes a compelling story with characters that are, in the main, believable without too much "Hollywood special effects" about them. Oh, for sure, there are those moments, but they don't dominate the plot lines.

This book suffers from some of the shortcomings of the previous work (dropped words, homonyms slipping by, etc.), but as with that previous book they don't affect the enjoyment of a well-told story. While I definitely wouldn't recommend it for the younger reader, it can be enjoyed by adult fans of Harry Potter, Eragon, and other series which dip into some of the darker sides of human behavior.

Some of the solutions are a bit too pat and, obviously (since this is the middle book in a trilogy), there are issue which remain unresolved. The third book should bring all the disparate stories and energies together. Nonetheless, this book is a good enjoyable read. Let the story sweep you along, and don't worry about the minor bumps along the way.

I am hoping that the author will be completing the concluding volume relatively soon. I hate having to wait to find out what happens to characters I have become attached to. On the other hand, the longer it takes, the more time I have before I have to say goodbye to them.
