Not For Ourselves
A Book Review
By Cate Cavanagh

Theresa Chaze has once again proven herself to be a premier Wiccan author of amazing skill and creativity! Not For Ourselves is a robust novel that spans lifetimes in the most unique way possible by weaving a tale of revolving reincarnation.

Readers knowledgeable of the Craft will find this approach familiar yet refreshing in depiction as we witness the flashing back and forth of a character in the present reliving moments of a previous life whose errors have followed her through many incarnations including the present.

Through Alyssa’s eyes we see how conflicted relationships are fast forwarded to the present as she comes to recognize antagonists of her past life tormenting her in the present. Alyssa’s biggest challenge is to rejoin her past self and seek to correct the error that sent her span of lives into the condemnation of karmic debt.

A victim of stalking and terrorism by a local police officer Alyssa is forced to send her cats to live with her sister, Michelle. Reporting this officer (Nevel) is useless as the blue wall converges about him, rendering him protected against prosecution. As her torment continues week after week and month after month the result is the loss of her job as well what has become her fragile sanity. Despite this she fosters enough strength to vlog a diary of what is happening as well as publishing his threatening phone calls. When he and a fellow officer come to her house with false charges and threats, Alyssa finds her cause has been followed by the FBI for some time. Angry that they allowed her to live in constant fear she searches for a way to find peace again and to come away with her goddess given power once more!

Complicating matters is James, the FBI agent that rescues her and Wayne the attorney helping his father deliver hay to the reclaimed horse farm that Alyssa resumes on her path to recovery. But is Wayne in town to defend her tormentors?

So thorough is Theresa’s research she writes of how Alyssa houses an injured possum rather than have him free to roam the stable because its feces can cause serious, life threatening illness. As a horsewoman, I was very impressed with this authenticity.

Authentic as well as her description of projecting oneself into a past life and back again. Authentic as well is how she depicts the physical, mental, and emotional turmoil that rapid astral traveling can be. Those of us of the Craft have experienced this and it is very impressive that Theresa set before her the daunting challenge to recreate not just the physical sensations of trying to undo past errors but the very important tenets of the Wiccan path.

Upon completion of Not For Ourselves, those of the Craft will be sated knowing that someone like Theresa writes a true representation of this treasured belief system while opening a whole new realm of reading experience for the average reader.

Kudos to you Theresa Chaze! Well done!

Press Releases: What you don't want you to know can hurt you

Having a provocative opening to your press release will only catch your readers attention for a moment. Press releases need to be more than just the who, what, where, when, and why. They must capture the reader attention in the first paragraph, while still providing all the necessary information.

No matter what venue for which it has been written, a press release must pack a great deal of information in short, quick to read pieces that are tightly formatted. The first paragraph attracts and catches the readers attention by setting the stage. The second paragraph goes into detail about the what it is and why it is important or unique. The third focuses on the who is involved and why they a credible. The fourth summarized the release, hitting the high points, while reinforcing the who, what, where, when, and why.

However, misleading or poorly structured releases will garner negative reactions from readers. At best, they won't finish reading it. At worse, it will leave the reader with a negative option of the message, making release totally counterproductive. Correct spelling and grammar prove professionalism and give credibility as does the correct usage of words not only for definition but also for basic context.

Catchy phrases and intriguing opening paragraphs will attract readers, but it takes a well-crafted press release to keep their attention. Keep it simple. Keep it concise. Keep it professional.

Supernatural Thriller Seek Ethnic Actress for Lead

Michigan had been known for the forests that seemed to be endless as they reached up toward heaven. They made millionaires out of paupers. By the 1950's the virgin forests had become scarce. Those who exploited the bounty learned that their wealth was not perpetual as they were forced to follow the treeline as it rapidly moved northward.

Sara Jane and Randolph met and fell in love. Several years older, Randolph work for her father, James. On a scouting trip, Randolph found the last and greatest track of standing timber. Determined to give Sara Jane the same high standard of life, Randolph did the unthinkable and claimed the large tract of old growth forest for himself, instead of James Enraged, James made him a pariah in the community. Only Sarah Jane and her mother stood by him. James forbid the marriage. Loving each other more than they feared him they eloped. As their happiness grew, so did his hatred, which cascaded into a series of events that caused Sara Jane's death and the murder of his granddaughter, Randi. Before Randolph could exact his revenge, he too was murdered

Death freed them, but not their daughter Trapped alone in the bedroom where Sara Jane died, Randi waits for her parents to return and free her. There is one who knows and protects the house that keeps Randi safe from disappearing into the void forever. But there is one who will not stop until the last remnant of Sara Jane and Randolph's love is destroyed.

Michael arrives in town to rekindle his relationship with Lynne. A series of coincidences leads him to the Bellows House and its history of murder, betrayal, and suicide. He knows it's all lies. He is certain the answers he seeks will only be found behind the wall that hides in the bedroom where Sara Jane died. When Michael meets Randolph Bellow's granddaughter Shane, he thinks he found the love that has haunted his dreams for most of his life. Against the advice of others, Michael and Shane marry. Believing his request will be refused, Shane agrees to move into the Bellows House. Amanda shocks the town by giving her blessing for the couple to move in. Michael is ecstatic. Furious, Shane tries to manipulate Michael into moving out until she realizes that fate has given her the opportunity to finish what she started.

Elizabeth reluctantly agrees to teach a writing course at a small college. Arriving in town, she instantly regrets her decision as she meets people and places that awaken memories that she doesn't understand. By the time she realizes what is happening, it is too late to run as she comes face to face with the murderer of her child and the man, who she believes betrayed her.

Michael finally finds the room and rips off the wall that had concealed it for decades. Opening the door initiates a cascade of events that sends the past and the present on an unavoidable collision course. If they can forgive the past, Randi will be saved and freed to also reincarnate. If they seek the revenge they were denied in the past, they will all be damned and Randi will be lost in the void forever.
