Corporate Sponsorship to Help Veterans

People have asked me what we need for Horses and Heroes. What they are really asking is how would helping us benefit them. The answer is very simple. We are offering excellent opportunities to embed products/services in a family friendly documentary.

Horses and Heroes is a documentary, which will help military personnel and veterans find a new way to cope with the physical and emotional challenges brought into their lives by war. Equine Therapy doesn't not involve drugs nor lying on a couch and spilling their guts. What it does do is help them find new ways to see and react to their emotional triggers. It helps their bodies remember how it used to work. It can't replace what was lost, but it can give them the confidence to see that they are more than the sum of their body parts.

We are offering ten second acknowledging spots at the open and close of the show as well as three thirty second show bumpers at the half hour marks. Additionally, sponsors logos in the form of banners will appear in the background, much like at sporting events. If the sponsor has promotional material, such as jackets, hats, mugs, etc, we can arrange for them to receive positive placement within the documentary. We will also be thanking the sponsor in the credits and have an active link on our website to their site.

Horses and Heroes will be formatted for cable networks, such as the Military Channel, other Discovery networks, History Channel, AMC, and A & E. We also have a foreign television distributor interested in presenting Horses and Heroes to their European networks. However, we will also be sponsoring a very limited theatrical release, which will act as fundraisers for veterans’ organizations such as Wounded Warrior Project, Military Warriors Support Foundation, Coming Home Project, and Operation Second Chance etc. Documentaries and films, which are shown in theatres and in film festivals, receive better network leasing contracts as well as greater DVD/download sales. In addition, the expenses connected to fund raising events would be considered a donation to the non-profit group and thereby they will be tax deductible.

For one sponsor this package would cost approximately the same as one national ad.

Why Should we Help Veterans?

Recently I was interviewed on a Southern California radio station.  The topic was our documentary Horses and Heroes.  Although, I am very grateful for the opportunity, between my nervousness and the time limit we weren't able to properly cover the who, what, when, how, and why of Horses and Heroes.  I was able to cover the first four in very general terms.  It was the why that I found myself unable properly answer on air.

Military personnel and veterans are people.  They are not disposable parts of the war machine.  They are not marketing tools to increase corporations' bottom lines.   They are more than the selfless heroes that John Wayne portrayed or Sylvester Stallone's out of control outcast Rambo.  Neither character matches the reality of who military personnel and veterans are as individuals.  As with all large groups of people, there are members who are good, bad, and ugly, yet the media seems to just focus on the two extremes, instead of the telling the stories of the real people.

No matter what branch of service, military personnel and veterans are mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters.  They are our families and our friends.  They are individuals with unique talents and dreams, who chose to stand between our nation and harm's way.  In doing so, they not only permanently changed their lives, but also the lives of those who love them.   For many the life of service is a family tradition that goes back generations.  For them it is more than a job, it is a matter of honor and pride.  It is their way of life.

There are corporations who see military personnel, veterans and their families merely in the terms of marketing demographics.  Their generic messages are tweak to make their products appear to be target audience specific, yet the only thing military about the product is the advertising campaign.  However, not all businesses are looking to exploit military personnel and veterans.  There are many companies, who honestly support them.  Their products specifically focus on the needs and life challenges of those who serve and are more than just another Veteran's Day Car Saleathon.  It may not seem so, but there is a difference between the two.  The former puts their bottom line first and foremost, leaving the human element to be nothing more an after thought.  The latter puts the people first by providing necessary products and services; in doing so they create a balance between human needs and profitability.

Horses and Heroes started as an episode for our TV documentary series about horses, Spirit of a Nation.  However, in doing the research, I learned there was enough information as well as a need for both.  The episode for Spirit of a Nation will encompass all aspects of Equine Therapy; while Horses and Heroes will focus on the how working with the horses helps military personnel and veterans face their physical and emotional challenges.  Horses and Heroes will provide dual benefits.  Not only will it share the personal stories about the effectiveness of Equine Therapy, but we will also be give jobs to veterans already in the entertainment industry and opening the door for those who are looking for a new career.

We all serve in our own way.  Although I would be best described as a Fobbit (It is the equivalent to REMF).  Although the term is derogatory, in my case it is also accurate.    I'm only really capable of shooting off my mouth, but I am very good at it.  I'm a story teller, who tells the tales of those who face their fears and make a difference. I am a researcher that can ferret out accurate information and separate it from BS.  As a producer and editor, I tie it all together in such a way that even civilians can understand.   I might not be able to pull a trigger, but I can back up those who do.

Helping Other Heals Our On Wounds

 

Would you please like and share our Facebook page.  It is our goal to go into production for the pilot in early Fall.  I would like to be able to take the numbers to the networks and prove that there is not only a need, but also an interest in a series that shows military personnel, veterans, and their families as people not just disposable parts of the war machine.

This is NOT a reality show.  It is a scripted series that intertwines real life stories with a fictional international conspiracy.

Missing limbs can be replaced by the miracle of modern medicine and technology. They are functional, but not the same. But what of the pain that is unseen yet goes soul deep? These are the wounds that bind us to the past. Some use it as an excuse to hurt others. Some hurt themselves. Help for Wounded Warriors

Until You Walk The Path, You Won’t Know Where it Goes is hosting Founder and spokes person for Wings for Warriors Anthony (Doc) Ameen on March 1 at 1 pm eastern. We will be talking the needs and challenges of wounded warriors.

Proudly served as an U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman for 8 years as a non commissioned officer with a vast experience in a variety of lifesaving medical techniques and specialties including emergency medicine, women's health, and advanced combat surgical techniques. He performed his duty under severe time constraints and in hostile conditions. His excellent networking, communication and public speaking abilities gave him the ability to help veteran outreach programs and the wounded warrior community.

Wings for Warrior’s mission is to provide necessary tools, insights and resources for wounded veterans as they go through the recovery process and transition into new realities. Among the services and activities we support include:

Guidance and counseling in dealing with military and government entities to secure healthcare, financial and legal benefits.
Financial assistance for immediate family members traveling to visit wounded loved ones located at military and hospital facilities around the nation.
Public awareness events and programs to highlight the unique challenges our wounded warriors face and to ensure that they receive strong community support.

Rhiannan Price From The Mission Continues Talks About Wounded Warriors

Until You Walk the Path, You Don’t Know Where it Goes will be hosting Rhiannan Price Project Manager with The Mission Continues on October 24, 2010 at 5 pm eastern. We will be talking about how The Mission Continues helps Wounded Warriors as well as how other may get involved.

Rhiannan Price has been a Project Manager with The Mission Continues since September 2009 after finishing two years as a Community Development Volunteer with the United States Peace Corps in the Commonwealth of Dominica. As a Project Manager, Rhiannan coordinates volunteer activities and cultivates partnerships with corporations and organizations to strengthen our service projects. She is currently managing The Mission Continues’ partnership with Target to host 11 local service projects on Veterans Day to join veterans, active duty service-members and civilians in service to their communities.

The Mission Continues and Target are recruiting volunteers to participate in this nationwide service project on Veterans Day with the hope of not only empowering community members to serve, but also connecting them with our nation’s wounded and disabled veterans who are eager to continue serving their country.

Rhiannan comes to The Mission Continues with an extensive background in service both abroad and locally. She graduated from Xavier University in 2007 with a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and the Public and is currently attending University of Denver where she is studying for a Masters in International Human Rights. Rhiannan’s commitment to service has taken her to Ukraine, France, the Eastern Carribean and back to her native St. Louis.
