Anne Nadel is a business executive with over 18 years of experience in operations and finance with a focus on manufacturing. From there she went on to manage over $80m in retail for Diane von Furstenburg Studio and solidified an understanding of international and domestic production. After learning how to build and maintain a business, Anne began to consult with companies on their own operation and manufacturing processes. Leaving Veterans Behind

Horses and Heroes is a Reality TV series, which combines the highly effective peer support with Equine Therapy.  Each season will bring together eight veterans that will come from the broad veteran demographic. They will be sharing their challenges and supporting each other as they find new solutions.    When it airs, it will reach into the homes of the veterans, who need to hear that they are not alone, and give them the information they need to also heal.

These days, the emphasis has been on the veterans from the current conflicts; however, many of those from previous wars never had a chance to work through that they experienced.  They pigeonholed their lives and tried to leave their pain behind.  But now that they are reaching an age when they are starting to review their lives, that is no longer so easy to do.  For this reason, Horses and Heroes will not only attract the prized 18-35-year-old demographic, but also those who served in the Vietnam, Korean, and WWII.

While in service no brother or sister in arms behind.   Although most of the attention and support has been focused on the veterans from the current conflicts, many from the previous conflicts never receive the help and support they needed to heal through their physical and emotional pain.  Horses and Heroes will be bringing veterans of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and both genders together.  It’s never too late to heal and come back to the world.  Transportation, housing, food, and therapy as well as a small stipend for the eight veterans in the program will cost $3,500.00 for each.  We are asking for the support of individuals and organizations to help us with these costs.

Reality TV series continue to be a dominate genre in television programming. However, while most current shows promote bad behavior, establish or revive a career, and focus on selling a brand, Horses and Heroes will take the genre into a positive direction by promoting healing and empowering veterans to reclaim their lives. By combining the spontaneity of a Reality show and the informational sharing of a documentary with the in-depth personal sharing that happens during a talk show, Horses and Heroes blazes a new genre trail.

Our target audience will also include veterans and their families from the past conflicts. The veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the first Gulf War fought different kinds of wars, yet they have much in common The comradery of service is what kept many alive during their time of service In foxholes, strangers became brothers. They watched each others' six both in and out of battle zones. But it is also what has been lacking in many of their lives As the eight veterans help each other work through their individual challenges, they will rebuild that same kind of friendship and support system not only among themselves, but they will also awaken that spirit in the veterans in the audience. Although Equine Therapy will be the stage, the focus will remain on the veterans and how their lives as well as those of their families were changed by the physical and emotional challenges brought into their lives by war.

Horses and Heroes has a ready made market with a demographic that crosses all ages, ethnic backgrounds and genders, especially the 18 to 35 year age group, many of which are currently returning from service and are being discharged. Our target audience will also include military personnel, veterans, and their families from past conflicts.

Horses and Heroes is not about pointing fingers or creating a political firestorm. It is a twelve episode TV series that has the possibility of running multiple seasons , which will help military personnel and veterans find a new way to cope with the physical and emotional challenges brought into their lives by war. Equine Therapy does not involve drugs nor lying on a couch and spilling their guts to a therapist. What it does do is help them find new ways to see and react to their emotional triggers. It helps their bodies remember how it used to work. It can't replace what was lost, but it can give them the confidence to see that they are more than the sum of their body parts. Although the recent attention has been placed on military personnel and veterans from the current conflicts, there are still many veterans from previous wars that have yet to deal with their emotional and physical traumas. The cultural standards forced these veterans to ignore their pain and pigeonhole their lives. However, in the years and sometime decades since their service, they have started to loose their ability to bury the pain. Horses and Heroes will be particularly helpful for theses veterans. With television's ability to reach into the privacy of individual homes, it will breakdown the walls that have kept them isolated and prove to them that they are the rule not the exception. It will give them permission to seek the help they need to heal the rest of the way home.

Horses and Heroes is highly relevant not only to military personnel, veterans, and those who care about them, but also to anyone who has experience a traumatic event in their lives. Additionally, alternative healing methods, such as Equine Therapy, have proven their effectiveness in healing both physical and emotional challenges. Yet there is very little information about the programs available through traditional venues.

Horses and Heroes ability to tell the personal stories of healing without censorship, while supporting the veterans as they find their way back is what makes it unique and without equal. Therefore it is very likely to again an audience that will include military personnel, veterans, and civilians.

Gun Nuts throw verbal rocks at The Wounded Warrior Project

"Wounded Warriors Project called legal scam as scandalous news spreads"

The title of this blog post on the surface sounds like a scandal in the making, until you read the article and research the organization behind it. It is in fact very defamatory and bias.

Taken directly from their website:

"Guns Save Life is a regional civil rights organization that works
to educate the public about the benefits of firearm ownership.

The group had its origins as a county grassroots committee of the
Illinois State Rifle Association in about 1995, initially meeting
in Rantoul, and later holding its monthly meetings in the Jolly
Roger restaurant in Urbana, IL.

GSL was later incorporated as its own non-profit corporation and
today represent gun owners in Illinois, Indiana and beyond in
proactive grassroots activism promoting and defending firearm
rights and the civil right of self-defense."

However, the only Civil Right they defend is their version of the Second Amendment.
From the article, it seems the GSL took offense when the Wounded Warrior Project didn't immediately support their organization. They are all about guns and the Bible. You know the type, "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition."



The Wound Warrior Project refused to allow the GSL to use their logo or to have their brand connected with them, so they threw verbal rocks at the salaries the WWP's officers and their fund raising events.
Just reading headlines can be very dangerous practice. It's easy to be mislead. But if you take the time to read and research with the first question being, "Who benefits?" you learn the truth about the who, what, where, and more importantly the why.






 

Horses and Heroes combines the concepts a talk show with that of a documentary, by combining the spontaneity of a talk show with the scripted informational aspects of a documentary. It will utilize both interviews and practical demonstrations of horse therapy to give the audience a full understanding of how and why working with the horses help veterans heal.
