Critics say Magical Fantasy Novels Perfect Gifts for Wiccan and Pagans
Critics say Magical Fantasy Novels Perfect Gifts for Wiccan and Pagans
Traverse City, MI With Black Friday kicking off the holiday shopping frenzy, people are once again searching for the perfect gifts for their family and friends who enjoy reading the fantasy genre. With critics giving, Theresa Chaze's Dragon Clan Trilogy four and five stars, these novels would make ideal gifts for Wiccan and Pagans as well as anyone who enjoys an excellent fantasy novel.
Compared to Marion Zimmer Bradley and Anne McCaffrey, Theresa Chaze creates worlds of magic, suspense and romance for the adult reader. However, unlike Bradley and McCaffrey, Chaze chose to incorporate her Wiccan faith into her fiction. Although the results have been fictionalized, the rituals and spells in Chaze's novels are authentic. C
Currently, Chaze has two novels in print, the first two books of the Dragon Clan Trilogy, Awakening the Dragon and Dragon Domain as well as an ebooks, Nict For Ure Selfe (Not for Ourselves). All three books are available on both Chaze's website (www.theresachaze.com) and through the Amazon Kindle program.
Awakening the Dragon -- Book One of the Dragon Clan Trilogy ISBN-978-0-9798406-0-9 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fy7KEOE3AQ) -- is a story of magic, suspense and karmic justice combined in a tale of horror. Rachael moves to Coyote Springs to find a home and open her bookstore. Instead, she becomes the catalyst in exposing a murder and the target of a violent cult. She is forced to awaken her dragon spirit prematurely to save herself and all she loves. Will she be able to control the power of the dragon as it rises giving her the power to save all she loves or will the flames from within destroy her?
In Dragon Domain -- Book Two of the Dragon Clan Trilogy ISBN 978-0-9798406-1-6 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvK7RjM9QRQ) -- Cheyenne and Celeste came to Coyote Springs to save a child; instead, Cheyenne found a home. With the help of their new friend, Jane, they created a spiritual sanctuary. But when Celeste stopped running, her past caught up with her. Dominic arrived with promises of love and passion. Instead of love, he reawakened Celeste’s dark side, turning her against those she loved the most. With the aid of the dragons, Cheyenne was barely able to ward off their first attack. With each soul they bound to them, Celeste and Dominic’s greed and hatred grew until they would not settle for less than totally destroying Cheyenne and all she loves. How do you protect yourself from someone who knows how to steal your soul?
Nict For Ure Selfe (Not for Ourselves) a paranormal suspense novelette that ties the present with the past as karma awakens an old blood feud. Alyssa attends a local Pagan festival, only become the target of the local deputy's bigotry and hatred. Unable to understand way she was singled out, she performs a ritual asking Bridget for her help. Instead of gaining wisdom, her spirit is transported back to a time before the Celtic Goddesses and Gods gave way to the Christos and when clan traditions could mean life or death. The book trailer can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Jk8S7AVw5E.
Chaze’s growing reputation as a fantasy writer is evident by what others say about her:

Rachel lives her life by what leads her. She landed in Coyote Springs by asking the Goddess where she wanted her to go, then threw the dart. It is there in Coyote Springs where she will open her "New Spirituality" store, Dragon's Den. Being drawn to a small cottage on the outskirts of town she crosses paths with Kevin Mitchellson. Kevin is the owner of the home in which his grandmother was killed.
Being like many small towns, Coyote Springs is a place where everyone knows of, or about, everyone there. In this town there is great turmoil between the House of Christ church and those who choose to follow otherwise. "Book One of the Dragon Clan Trilogy" focuses on this turmoil and resolution prior to the opening of Dragon's Den....I eagerly await "Book Two" to continue the story.
"Awakening the Dragon" is quite intriguing and will have you also waiting to see what happens next. With few editing errors that do not distract, this story is raw energy. "Theresa Chaze and her writing are based on her philosophy that all people live together in peace as long as we come from respect, not only for ourselves but those who follow different paths or beliefs." This is such a profound philosophy that would greatly benefit many. I often ask myself, "How does one know if what they personally believe is correct?" Life would be much less negative if everyone just accepted what the other believe to be correct for them and our own belief is correct for us, there is no wrong. In "Awakening the Dragon: Book One" you find yourself compelled to root for the characters and look at your own actions toward others.

Very entertaining...
Rachel felt as though the cottage was calling to her. It was lonely. The church people wanted to burn it down, because a witch once lived in it. They now target Rachel for her beliefs and practices. When she attempts to open a new book story she becomes the mark of bigotry.
This is not the type of book I normally read. Once I began, I could not put it down. There is a strength and yet innocence in Rachel. From the beginning, I sensed she had a secret. I wanted to see romance between Kevin and Rachel. Kevin is a wounded character. While this book is a fantasy and very entertaining, it also has an agenda, to teach the dangers of bigotry, close mindedness, and lack of love for people that are different. Unfortunately, this book needs proofreading. There are a lot of grammatical mistakes. Awakening The Dragon would make an excellent movie. Fans of fantasy will enjoy Awakening The Dragon.

Ms. Chaze shows colorful, visual language that will even keep the romance novel buff obsessed in finishing this novel in one read! The pacing is excellent, the main character strong and likeable, with the hint of romance to come in the final installments of the trilogy. I must say I'm already addicted to Ms. Chaze's writing style! A guaranteed page turner! Bring on the rest of the trilogy!

For the past several years I have been bemoaning the lack of quality, adult, Pagan fiction. Sure, there's lots of fantasy stuff out there. But good, set-in-the-real-world Pagan fiction is hard to come by. This book is one of less than a handful I have seen recently (Darksome Thirst and From the Ashes are two of the others, and Fallen Angels is one which is less Pagan-oriented but still enjoyable books which fall into this category [see my reviews at http://www20.brinkster.com/gleasonreview for reviews of all these books]).
As I said in my original review of Dragon’s New Home, this is a well-told story with characters that are both believable and familiar. By familiar, I don’t mean you’ve seen them in books before, but that you know people like them in your own life. There are no “over the top” characters here.
Even though some of the fantasy elements have a touch of Hollywood about them, the story relies on character development to hook and hold the reader. And let’s be honest – if you don’t care what happens to the characters, a book is a failure. This book is most definitely NOT a failure.
This book was a pleasure to read (even with the glitches noted above). The story is compelling and fun and the characters are individuals. I’m sure you will enjoy it.

“Theresa Chaze captures the imagination as well as the heart of her readers. Dragon Domain is an open door to a world of wonder, and from the first page to the last, you will be hard pressed to put it down.

This second book in the Dragon Clan trilogy is a darker work than the first. Whereas the antagonists in the first book (Awakening the Dragon) were, for the most part, merely misguided albeit sincere believers in their faith’s rightness, the antagonists this time around have made a conscious decision to embrace their darker sides for the simple’s pleasure of power.
Theresa writes a compelling story with characters that are, in the main, believable without too much “Hollywood special effects” about them. Oh, for sure, there are those moments, but they don’t dominate the plot lines.
This book suffers from some of the shortcomings of the previous work (dropped words, homonyms slipping by, etc.), but as with that previous book they don’t affect the enjoyment of a well-told story. While I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for the younger reader, it can be enjoyed by adult fans of Harry Potter, Eragon, and other series which dip into some of the darker sides of human behavior.
Some of the solutions are a bit too pat and, obviously (since this is the middle book in a trilogy), there are issue which remain unresolved. The third book should bring all the disparate stories and energies together. Nonetheless, this book is a good enjoyable read. Let the story sweep you along, and don’t worry about the minor bumps along the way.
I am hoping that the author will be completing the concluding volume relatively soon. I hate having to wait to find out what happens to characters I have become attached to. On the other hand, the longer it t5akes, the more time I have before I have to say goodbye to them.

Fans of the Dragon Clan Trilogy...
The lead character in Dragon Domain is Cheyenne. Her past comes back to haunt her. Dominic speaks of love; he turns her against those that care for her.
This is the second book in the Dragon Clan Trilogy. In the first book, Awakening the Dragon, the focus was on struggle between Reverend Marshall, his church, and Rachel. Rachel is a minor player this time. The struggle is between forces of evil and the Dragon. I enjoyed the first book, but found Dragon Domain lacking the same attraction. This book is much darker. Fans of horror will enjoy this book. The interrelationships between the characters make this book. The characters are strong and well developed.

Soap Operas: The Cliff Hanger-The Backbone of the Genre
Soap Operas: The Cliff Hanger-The Backbone of the Genre
By
Theresa Chaze
The cliffhanger has been the both a source of pleasure and bane to soap opera viewer since the genre was created. It is one of the hooks that keep the viewers coming back. From radio to daytime to the emergence of primetime soaps, the cliffhanger has been the one element that has remained constant. However, in the past few years with the movement away from the traditional soap opera format to one that is more titillating, the cliffhanger has also been cast aside.
In the era of multi-media and channel options, cliff hangers have become more important than ever in the success of a soap opera. With so many choices, all shows need to give the viewers a reason to keep tuning in. Historically, cliff hangers have been the genre’s best tools to create loyal fans. According the World English dictionary, the definition of a cliffhanger is:
1. Arts literature ending left teasingly unresolved: an unresolved ending in a serialized drama or book that leaves the audience or reader desperate to know what will happen in the next part
2. Arts drama serial with suspenseful endings: a drama serial that has episodes that often end in suspenseful unresolved endings
3. Tense situation: a situation full of tension or suspense because it is not clear what will happen next
By keeping the audience guessing, the writers insure they will tune in next time to learn what happens to their favorite characters. However, the more invested the viewer is in the characters the easier it is to hook them. Yet on the flip side, it is nearly impossible to retain the interest of the viewers if they can’t identify with the character or if the plot doesn‘t fit within the perimeters the show has already established. The more the viewers care about the characters, the more likely they will be loyal to the show.
Cliff hangers need storylines that are not only well written, but also well thought out and exactly timed. Cutting the scene in the middle of the action is not a cliff hanger; it is a poorly placed cut. In order to be effective, it has to be the logical progression of the plot throughout the episode. By properly organizing and timing the sequence of scenes, the writer builds the suspense and drama. Inter-cutting the primary storyline to build a secondary, not only heightens the tension, but it also initiates the next primary storyline and helps insure the show will end at climatic moment. As with comedy, timing isn't the only thing, it's everything.
Many of the current soaps have given up writing the complicated storylines that are associated with cliff hangers in favor of gratuitous sexual scenes that aren’t based in plot or character. Instead of developing characters or stories the viewers can identify with and care about, the writers have chosen to focus shallow characters and plots that more closely resemble soft porn, which is why the genre has been slowly dying. In traditional soaps, sex was the end result of romance that was gradually created over weeks of teasing, testing and sexual tension. Instant romance and relationships give nothing for the viewer to look forward to since they already know what the end results will be sex. Until the writers return to storylines, which are based on suspense, drama, romance and humor, cliff hangers will be a thing of the past, taking with them the whole genre.

The Ascension Process: Remembering Your Soul’s Name
The Ascension Process: Remembering Your Soul’s Name
The ascension process is much like a video game. Each level has its own rules, challenges and resources. At some levels helpmates are close; on others, they the ones initiating the challenges. Each level teaches the player more about the game, making her or him a wiser, stronger competitor. At each new stage, the player is given incentives to keep going--additional resources, wisdom or challenges. There are consequences for mistakes and rewards for successes. So it is with the ascension process, which begins with a name.
When a soul claims it's name, not only does it separate itself from the soul collective, but it also claims its individuality, thereby staking claim to its own power. When the soul incarnates it sends down a piece of itself, which is called the spirit. Whereas owning its name was the beginning, the spirit remembering it is acknowledging and accepting its soul's history, which is in itself a new beginning.
More than just labeling itself, a soul asserts ownership of itself. It is the declaration "I am, the I am." Finding the strength and the courage to leave the collective is the first step on the journey called destiny; deciding on a name is just the first step in the journey. Once decided, it cannot be changed and will identify the soul for eternity, which is why it is considered the most important decision a soul can make. With each step the soul takes away from the collective, it becomes more distinctive and independent. The lessons it learns and the wisdom it collects raises its energy vibration, giving it access to more information and more intense learning opportunities. With independence comes mistakes and missteps. Experience leads to imperfections; imperfection leads to regret. However, it is this winding road with its many side paths that prepares the soul for the ascension process, which eventually leads to forgiveness and unconditional love.
During incarnation process, the spirit is prepared for the lessons or issues the soul wishes to address. Part of this process is stripping away the knowledge and memories to create a clean slat. Although, the soul retains its personality traits, it doesn't remember the details or the motivating factors behind its actions. Amnesia is not a punishment, but a way to help prevent a soul from becoming stuck in guilt and regret. By allowing the soul to start a new chapter in it Akashic Records, the soul is allowed a fresh starts with old challenges. Called the formative years, the first three years of life are when the soul redevelops its connection with the physical plane. It bonds with others and establishes communication skills. In addition, it also decides what the focus will be for this particular life; in short, which karmic challenge or lesson will be the main focus. During this time, the incarnating spirit still maintains a connection with its soul, which is why many children hold on to memory fragments of their past lives. However, as the verbal and social skills develop, these memories are usually pushed into the subconscious for save keeping. It is more important for its attention to be directed out and forward, than inward and toward the past. Toward the end of life, especially for the aged, this process is reversed as the spirit prepares to be reabsorbed into its soul and the life's lessons evaluated.
Incarnating is the soul’s way of actively learning, clearing karmic debt and connecting with others. However, whether the entrance into body is done through the birth process or through walking in, its ability to remember its karmic history is severely limited. It is part of the learning and testing process that each soul must grow through as it learns tolerance and forgiveness, while releasing its fear. How a soul reacts to challenges is also a very important part of the education. However, as the soul gains more experience through the incarnation process, the connecting cord becomes thicker and stronger. This makes the transmission of information from the soul to the spirit easier and more accurate. For more advanced souls, the loss of memory is no longer necessary for they no longer need to be protected from their past. The amnesia is designed to protect the spirit from the backlash of previous self destructive behaviors and emotions. It is impossible to erase the errors made in previous lives; however, by learning and growing from them the karmic scales are once again put into balance. The memory loss is designed to help the soul again face the challenge with the negative baggage of the past safely locked in its subconscious.
The spirit remembering its soul’s name is a turning point in the soul's growth and learning process. Just like stepping away from the collective was the beginning of a new journey, so is the spirit remembering its name the inauguration of a new segment in its existence. It signals that the incarnated spirit and soul have achieved balance. In doing so, the soul not only fully accepts responsibility for its actions, but becomes opens to receiving blessings as well. The later is the most difficult part of the process. Not only does it involve facing old fears, but also forgiving oneself for past mistakes. Most souls of light forgive others easily, but themselves not so much. Guilt and anger blocks the healing process, which in turn delays development on all levels. This is why only highly developed souls remember their history while incarnated.
If the information is made available too quickly, it is detrimental to the spirit who is not ready to shoulder the burden of the past. However, remembering and being told is two completely different situations. It is the difference of being able to read the book and being told what it says. In remembering, the soul is given direct access to its entire past--the good, bad and the ugly. A psychic who disclosures the client’s name soul name gives her or him the keys to the kingdom without telling them where the gate lays. At best it means nothing, at worse it brings back a flood of memories that the person isn't emotionally or spiritually ready to deal with, which is not unlike when a kundalini rise prematurely. As with the kundalini, sudden a sudden karmic awakening can lead to madness and death.
When the spirit and soul are in balance, the awakening is natural, which makes the memories uplifting and healing. Instead of adding burdens, they release them and open new venues of growth. Forgiving of oneself and accepting forgiveness from others is the final step in this journey; it is the release of what could have been by accepting was and being grateful for the growth opportunity. The past becomes the present while the present becomes the past. . No longer hampered, the spirit’s vibration level rises, making it ready for the next leg of journey.

Avalon Sisterhood Awakens
Avalon Sisterhood Awakens
In a time that has long been past,
the Sisterhood of Avalon was sent out on a task.
Spread on the four winds their souls did fly,
to learn from the Goddesses and build karmic ties.
No longer held back in the sacred place,
their journey would cross both time and space.
Mother Angela, a soul both wise and old
was called by the Earth Mother, or so it was told.
To her it was given a mighty task,
the Sisters of Avalon she must teach how to mask.
She bide them hide themselves well in foreign lands,
to become one with them was the first part of the plan.
The second task was for the Sisters to learn
all that made each people special and for what they did yearn.
Each was born, grew old and did die
in different lands, seeing each with new eyes.
New families and loves they did seek and did fine
while each moment their soul's light continued to shine.
For they were not alone in this mission and task,
there were others with bonds that held firm and did last.
A sacred mound on an Isle just north and to the east
with Earth Mother's blessing the Elder did release.
The lightning did strike and he did fall
with his blood sending out the virtuous call.
The second and third sons did arrive so discreet
for these Knights had their own tasks to complete.
From their own Temples they were ask to share
the wisdom of old and their weapons to prepare.
In this sanctuary they were destined to wait
keeping safe the Sisters’ growing estate.
Gate keepers of the wisdom and chalice of gold
they were bid to grow the treasures of old.
Until the time when the Sisters would have need
at which then they were to deliver it with great speed.
No matter the cost in money or deed
these Knights were charged to take heed.
As the Mayan calendar comes to an end
so does it add up to completely mend.
Now is the time for the memories of lives now past
to quickly return with all the wisdom that has been amassed.
As each sister awakens and connect with her soul,
so does the ending bell begin to toll.
With their tasks all but complete
they once again come together to meet.
Connected by the song of a bird
each other’s messages can easily be heard.
Renewing old friendships and sharing wisdom in kind
so the karmic circle does unwind.
Call ye now Knights of Gold
Come post haste for destiny to unfold..
As the bell does toll not once but thrice
so I, Shylon, do you entice.
Hear my words and their meaning
for it is time for the Sisters to be intervening.
Emerging from the pool where we breathed our last
we have learned and faced our past.
As we surface fully restored
so it is time for us to pick up the sword.
Not for war but for peace,
through us the healing will be released.
Guardians of the ancient rights
appear to us now in all your might.
What you have keep safe for us throughout the ages
send to us now in the hands of trusted pages.
Now is not the time for egos or guile
or any form of denial.
As each Sister come to you as I have said and done
you must know that her inner battle she has won.
Do not hold back or in way falter
for to do so now the future you could alter.
Instead, quickly proved all we asks
so that we may complete our tasks.

Days of Our Lives:Saving Days
With the firing of Deidre and Drake with only more to come for budgetary concerns, Ken Corday is announcing the death of Days of Our Lives. It is not the actors or crew who have brought Days to the brink of cancellation, but the bad writing, the corruption of beloved characters and the endless triangles. The fans want Days to go back to the basics of romance, suspense, drama and humor. Corday Productions produced a show few people wanted to watch and couldn’t understand why the ratings tanked.
If money is Corday’s main concern, it is the perfect way to get his attention. These are sweeps weeks. Ratings are calculated and recorded not only daily but hourly,. It’s this rapid return that can be turned to the fans’ favor. For the rest of the week, boycott Days. The storylines suck anyway. If there is a rapid, sudden drop in ratings Corday will be held accountable.

Awakening The Dragon would make an excellent movie. Fans of fantasy will enjoy Awakening The Dragon.

Follow Your Heart, Awaken the Dragon--Book Review by Danelle Drake

The Miracles and Challenges of Being Wiccan Writer
The Miracles and Challenges of Being Wiccan Writer
Being Wiccan isn't always about magic or working with the deities. More often than not it is simply being aware of the energy and wisdom that surrounds us all. It is the ability to see, hear and understand the signs the Divine is showing us; there are no coincidences--only messages that we are not yet ready to interpret.
Being empathic and intuitive, I have done my best to follow my intuition. More often than not it has lead me to the people, things and places where I was needed or needed to be. I have found opportunities and have been given help. I've also been given the great gift of being able to be of service to other. Sometimes I still am amazed how life brings together people, energy and resources just at the right moment. That if one element was just a moment off, the miracle wouldn't have happened.
It's why at this moment I feel so confused. I find myself at a crossroads and not knowing which path to take. Part of me knows that I will be shown which path will lead me to my goal. I know in my heart my needs will be met if I don't give into to the old fears and doubts. Yet at this moment as I write this I am questioning why I have been lead here.
Like so many I am financially challenged and have found my resources have dwindled. I worked on two projects that apparently I will not be paid for and other promised work has vanished. To be honest, I can be stubborn as the day is long and for a long time I didn't fully value my own work. Now that I am asking for equal payment for work performed, I've learned that I taught other to devalue me to well. One was a book trailer, whose author refused to give me necessary information, then complained that it wasn't what she wanted. The other was a woman who wanted me to set up her blog; it's done and ready for her to post, yet she to has found reasons not make payment for work rendered.
This is setting up to be a whine, which is not what I intended. The point is that there is a lesson or a challenge at play. It would be easy for me to do a justice ritual, but what would be the point. Karma always does come around.
Instead of hanging around sulking about these and another weird situation I find myself in, I chose to be open to new possibilities by seeking new work and looking for a mundane job to tide me over.
I went walking this afternoon with my cameras; I promised a friend I would typeset her book and create a cover for her. I also needed to be closer to Mom Nature so I could put my life into perspective. Today it was a miracle in itself--November 4 and it was warm enough to warn shorts in northern Michigan. I found peace and a promise among the trees. I couldn't get pictures of the squirrels, the chipmunks or the two deer, but I hopefully swan pictures will turn out beautifully. I also got wide selection of pictures to chose from for the cover. But more importantly, I found my center and grounding.
I’ve heard from friends and from several on the other side, that the writing gig I’ve been seeking will be offered along with another. The tide is turning in my favor and I am to be patient, allowing it to unfold in its time. Waiting has never been my strongest character trait. So now I wait and work and wonder if the person who needed to see the black panther will see what she needs to see and have the courage to speak out. Or if the changing energies will wash me up on another shore? As Scarlet said--tomorrow is another day. It is along with a whole new possibilities.
